Access matting

As part of the City's ongoing commitment to facilitating the inclusion of people with disability and improving access to services, programs and events, the City has provided two beach access matting points along the Geraldton Foreshore.

Providing access matting at the beach allows for all seasons access to the sand and sea for people of all abilities, whether they be people with disabilities, parents with prams, seniors or anyone who have any mobility impediment.

The first beach access matting point is located at Town Beach, directly across from Geraldton Yacht Club. This location also offers a more traditional ramp, providing more options for access to the beach.

The second beach access matting point is located at Champion Beach, near the iconic Rubik’s Cube toilets on the Geraldton Foreshore. The beach access matting at this location has been made possible by a collaboration between the 91影视, Access to Leisure and Sport (ATLAS) and Champion Bay Surf Life Saving Club (CBSLSC).

Changing Places Amenities

The Changing Places amenities are currently closed while construction of the new foreshore playground is underway.

During this period, the beach wheelchair normally located at the Changing Places facility has been relocated to the new wheelchair storage facility situated in front of the Foreshore Jaffle Shack.

We apologise for any inconvenience and appreciate your patience while these improvements are being completed.

Beach Wheelchairs

The City’s two beach wheelchairs are available as a community resource to help improve beach access for everyone.

The wheelchairs are stored in the new storage facility located in front of the Foreshore Jaffle Shack. The facility is accessible seven days a week during the following hours:

  • Summer: 4.00am to 7.00pm
  • Winter: 5.00am to 5.00pm

Keys can be collected from the foreshore Jaffle Shack or Kai Lani Café, located next to the Jaffle Shack. Please ensure keys are returned promptly after use.

When accessing a wheelchair, please make sure the storage facility is securely locked both after collecting the wheelchair and after returning it.

Regular users who would like their own loan key can apply through the 91影视. Applications can be made online via the MLAK website at or in person at the Civic Centre upon presentation of photo identification.
